1973 Alfa Romeo GTV - Best Offer

Well, my wife and I just had our first baby and there is not as much free time and money as I had hoped so my toy has to go. I guess that is life though. I decided to list it here so it will go to someone who will take care of it. I purchased this car about a year ago in Boise, Idaho from the son of the original owner. He had a collection of cars including a Cooper S and Big Healey. Anyways, the car lived most of its life in California until the owner got older and moved to Boise to be by family until he dies a little later. He was in the original sports car club of California and took great car of his cars. He resprayed it sometime in the 90's but other than that, it is all original. It is not perfect, but it has not been messed with and that is the reason I originally purchased it. There are bad spots here and there in the paint. Rust bubbles on the corner of the front fenders and the drivers door needs adjusted. It needs new seat covers and dash pad, but everything is there. The engine runs great. I actually drove it the 400 miles from Boise to my home in Sheridan, Wyoming without a single problem. Second gear does crunch if you are not careful or if the transmission is not warmed up. It would be smart to drop the fuel tank and have it sealed because it is starting to get fuel fumes in the cabin and trunk, but I just don't have the time or money to start a restoration project. With a little work this would make a great daily driver, or it would make a great restoration project since everything is there and the rust is minimal. I am asking $8,000. Photos listed below. Please feel free to ask any questions.

Here is the identification information from Alfa Romeo:

According to our documentation files, the chassis number AR 3021957 originally corresponds to an Alfa Romeo 2000 GT Veloce USA (115.01), manufactured on the 12th July 1973.

The body colour is prugna (AR 525), with natural leather tex interiors.

I'm interested.
What else have you wanted to do with it?
I noticed the door panels and the seats are different colors?
Is prugna a purple color?
What's still original on the car? How many miles?
Where are you finding rust at?

Thanks!

@vampyr

I was just going to go through the fuel system and replace the front seat covers. You may want to take it to another level, but I just bought it to drive.

The seats just have covers on them. The seat bottom is worn on the driver side and the passenger side isnt too bad.

Is prugna a purple color?
Looks like this was answered above. Thanks!

The car is all original minus a few consumables (fuel filter, tires, battery, etc.) and the respray. No modifications or pray painted valve covers here! I think the car has 115k miles. The son of the original owner says that his Dad loved the car and drove it a lot, but always took good care of it and maintained the engine well. I have a hard time believing it has that many miles though.

Where are you finding rust at? There is some in the front fenders, a few small holes in the floor and spare tire. Cannot guarantee there is not more, but overall the car seems very solid for an unrestored Alfa.
