If the straps are under the driver side trunk lip I am guessing that those straps are for the plastic tank used for the US Evaporative emission control. The Tool Kit was just a small black plastic sleeve with a wheel wrench, a couple of wrenches and a spark plug wrench.

And on the series 1 Euro version at least just sat on the spare under the floor.

Right, I have seen some put in the rubber strap that surrounds the black plastic vapor container on the left side of the trunk.

THANKS to all of you for giving me advice! My car is a 1970 1750 GTV European specification, as it has been delivered from new to Austria, where I live. The straps and the toolkit I bought recently from ebay, so the straps are loose and not fixed to the car. From your answers till now, I suppose the toolkit will be mounted in the spare wheel well.I f anybody still has any advice, I d be glad to hear from.
Thanks again and very kind regards from Austria, gt.junior

Can somebody post a photo of an original tool-kit for a 1970 - 1750GTV? I currently just have the wheel brace and jack wrapped up in some rags and clipped into the boot (trunk for the Yanks). Is there more to the "kit" than that?

Excellent - thanks Papajam. I can see some tools in there which have been floating around my general toolbox for years and now I know where they came from! I must re-unite the family.

I am taking advantage of this old post. Any idea where in the trunk is located/fixed the toolbag for the '74 2000 GTV Euro version. A picture would be appreciated. Thanks.
