read this thread about adding a heater core shut off valve http://www.alfabb.com/bb/forums/showthread.php?t=23143&highlight=murray H/C shut off valve: Murray #84707 Shut-Off Valve for 3/4" heater hose, found at local auto parts store, and make sure the heater door is opening and closing correctly, which is the only way that the factory provided for shutoff of heat.
