Greetings BB'ers,

Always something with the 164 ('90 RHD Australia 3L 12valve model)

The first one is trivial - the wipers no longer "retract" back under the bonnet when not in use. Is there a switch or connector I can check? It sounds like a ground issue maybe?

Heater/aircon is more troublesome - for some reason the heater cannot be turned off. I know the airconditioner is running, because the compressor kicks in and out when I lower the temperature on the climate control. Is there are water valve which lets water in to the heater core from the engine coolant circuit? If so, perhaps the connection for this is dodgy?

Any pointers to fixing these bugs would be great, spring is getting closer and we're going to need the aircon!

Some more work done the daily drive 164 - I spent quite a bit of time on the window wiper mechanism and discovered that the components had pretty much jammed up with dirty grease and sheered off half of the 180 degree "ring" that makes up the retracting wiper component.

I think this is one of those cases a new part is preferable to one off a wreck, but there is no part number on this device and I couldn't find a reference to it on Eper.

So, can anyone help with a part number (AR or Bosch?) or perhaps a last resort a unit off a scrap 164? I don't need a whole motor assembly, just the retracting link which fits between the motor shalf and the wiper arm link.

Any help most appreciated!

Benjamin
