156 selespeed

Hi, i hope someone can help. I've had over 2 years of trouble free motoring in my 03/04 156 Sportwagon. But now after about an hour's driving the clutch seems to slip as i pull away.
Once i'm moving the gear change is fine. The Alfa dealer says i have a leak and need a new selespeed unit but the guy who services my car (an ex Alfa mechanic) can only see oil coming from the reservoir and overflow pipe. Topping up just makes the oil come out quicker! Anyone else had this problem? Thanks for your feedback, Buz.
