As an update , I had a very nice chat with Phil today. Some additional info was discussed which included;
They will build up scale inside even if there just sitting with coolant in it.
and as a result, one of the things that may happen is the rad may come out and get cored, not roded. Plus a few 'tests', as it were, for some additional data points.
We shall see so stay tuned...

The clean out of the block and associated passages might have knocked a lot of debris and scale loose in the alloy passages. The radiator would then act as a filter clogging up rather quickly I would surmise. The white scale in some of the photos seems like it would have to go somewhere and lodge in the radiator matrix if it didn't dissolve. It could have been happening all along after the first rod-out and really stepped up in intensity after the flush. I'll bet the block spigot won't drain if opened because of the sediment there.

Another confirmation is the temp differentual between the upper and lower hose. I would guess it shouldn't be more that 10 to 20 degrees but a radiator shop knows what to look for.
