I know this has been kicked around, but I cannot find a definitive solution to new connecting rod bolts for a 1300 motor. I am rebuilding a 62 Giulietta Spider and want to replace the rod bolts. I do not want to grind on a VW bolt to make it fit.

I have thought about sourcing new billet rods from China, but they have minimums around 30-40 pieces and I don't have the budget to carry stock. Would end up around $50 each give or take.

Anyone out there who has been there and come up with a solution, would love to hear from you.

Thanks, Buff

ARP only lists bolts for 2000 motors, which will not work in 1300 rods. Somewhere here in the forum it has been said to use VW 1600 bolts, but pretty sure that will take some grinding. Hoping that someone has a better solution short of a new set of Carillo Rods
