    Spider - 105 & 115 Series (1966-1994)
Hello All I am brand new to the forum. I have been following for a few discussions for a couple weeks now and decided it would be wise to join and share my experiences here. I bought a '74 Spider in pretty rough shape before Christmas and have been working to bring it back to life since. I...
  2. Cams and Valve Clearance for a 78 Spider

    Engine Repair, Diagnostics & Rebuilding
I am rebuilding my cylinder head and looking for suggestions about the cams and valve clearances for a street car. It has been daily driver for 35 years and still going strong! If I say how many miles are on it no one will believe me. I am lucky enough to live close to APE and Larry Dickman has...

  4. Spica normal cold start behavior?

Carburetors, Fuel Injection & Air Intake
Hi there, New to Alfas and Spica with a rescue 1978 sport sedan. On cold start the engine lights off easily, and if I drive off, the idle stays high at 200-2300 rpms even at stop signs. Normal? Its basically replicating a choke? Now if I start the car and don't drive it, the idle stays...
  5. Ran great, now nuthin'

    Spider - 105 & 115 Series (1966-1994)
Hi, '74 spider, 100K miles, SPICA fueled 2000 that blows smoke and leaks oil. It's a tired motor with good spark. Overall it runs well. Always starts on the second or 3rd crank, never misses a beat, sans the occasional backfire. I put about 80 miles on it over the weekend, had zero issues...

Alfa Romeo Parts For Sale & Wanted
Looking for a good SPICA pump to put in my '80 Spider while I get the original one serviced. I don't want to go to Webers, yet. I would prefer a T255 but will consider anything that comes across my path. Current pump is a T265 If you've got one in the garage that you pulled that'll help be get...
  10. '79 Spider, dead water & oil gauges?

    Electrical, Chassis & Lighting
Made another brief run at the oil, water, gauges and heater motor. No luck. Verified that the gauge to sender wires do have voltage. Tried grounding them but it made no difference to the gauges so the senders may actually be good. Not sure how to get the gauges out to check the wire connections...
  11. '79 Spica Spider barely runs, way too rich.

Carburetors, Fuel Injection & Air Intake
Black velvet is not the look I want for my plugs. Looked at the guides posted here and will try to get at the pump to examine that complexity for mechanical failure. Surprised to see mention of a micro-switch, so apparently not purely mechanical injection. Need to find a true manual for...
  12. Yes it IS a disease but I am getting better!

    Spider - 105 & 115 Series (1966-1994)
At least this time the outbreak seems to be rust-free, major accident free, and running! :surprise: Did not pay a lot but did spend money intended for something else. Needs a serious tune-up, new tires, and some electrical work. :frown2: Minor paint touch-up and my gold Ronal basket-weave...
  13. For Sale Weber-SPICA conversion basic kit. $150

Alfa Romeo Parts For Sale & Wanted
Doing more work than originally intended on my '78 Spider. Have almost finished a Euro manifold conversion. Not so simple as some claim with the linkage being backward and the need of a support rod. My Spica/Weber conversion kit is now surplus to my needs so up for sale, $150.00 shipped. I have...
  14. Hmm, interest in Weber conversion linkage?

Carburetors, Fuel Injection & Air Intake
Not sure if this is the best place for this but I am wondering if anyone else would be interested in Weber/Euro manifold conversion linkage? I have one Euro manifold and the original bell-crank that bolts to the bottom of the manifold. The trouble with this setup is that, A. Those bell-crank...
  15. Wanted Euro 2000 Spider intake manifold.

Alfa Romeo Parts For Sale & Wanted
Pulled the SPICA/Weber conversion off my Spider. Unnecessarily heavy and lots of unused studs! I have an earlier intake with the screw-in type thermostat that I am sure can be made to work. But a Euro manifold will have all the varied ports and fittings in the same location as the SPICA so...

  19. 77 Spider fuel system, pump not humming?!

    Engine Repair, Diagnostics & Rebuilding
Started getting my hands into a 77 Spider (SPICA) I found. Had sat for about 15 years. Previous owner was going to restore and then got sick and couldn't. He did get the tank cleaned and coated, lines and filter replaced. However he never got it running well. I started with basic broken things...
