I recently failed smog and have been reading a bunch of old threads from other CA alfa owners.
THREAD 93 Spider Failed California Smog HC
this thread from 2009 talks about making sure your plugs, O2, and cat are good. I replaced the o2 and replaced the plugs in Feb ’20.
Sorry if this is a newbie issue but I’m trying to remove my oxygen sensor and it appears to have a housing or something over the bung hole. Not sure how to get the sensor out. Housing is round and I don’t see anywhere I can access the sensor.
My 1986 Spider just failed smog yesterday on Hydrocarbons and Carbon Monoxide. I have been reading a bunch of the threads on here and I think the O2 is the likely culprit. Is the best way to verify with a multi-meter?
HC (PPM) - Hydrocarbons
CO % - Carbon...
I fired up my daily driver, 87 Grad yesterday and the exhaust sounds absolutely horrible.
Assume my Alfa knowledge to be "moderate". So if I'm slightly off base or just completely dead wrong, let me know, no egos here.
Some concurrent tribulations...
Seems like a simple enough job on a 1987 Spider Veloce, but no wrench I have ever seen will reach into recessed area to get a good purchase on the sensor's 22mm wrench lugs without cutting wires which becomes a problem when installing new sensor.
Any insights from the experts?
