Ok. So I've got a weird one for the wise folks in the forum.
Went to resurrect my old 164 S, after fiddling with the clutch decided that I ought to replace the clutch master/slave cylinders. Removal and install went fine, but once I reattached the clutch master cylinder to the pedal assembly...
Happy NY! Before I order a piston/plunger from the across the pond, I figured I’d see if anyone has 1 or 2 new 1” girling master cylinder plunger(s), here state side? I’m working on x2 ‘61 101 Giulietta Spiders.
Having trouble getting a restored brake system working and hoping for some help in diagnosing.

Hello! I have a 91 alfa 164 S that I have some concerns about. Recently I have encountered troubles with my clutch which I have diagnosed with a leaky master cylinder. I have been reading through my manual and other forums and I seem to have a difficult replacement on my hands(location wise)...
Hi.. I pulled this low mile spider out of storage to get back to excellent running shape. The front calipers were sticking, so had them rebuilt. When I reinstalled them, the brakes felt pretty good, but not amazing. (I have an 86 Quad as well to compare). I noticed a fluid drop, and looked...
New Master Cylinder just arrived from Centerline for my 1957 Giulietta Spider Veloce.
Does anyone know what size threads are used for the fittings?
I believe it is a Girling, but not sure.
Old M/C was of unknown type and brake lines do not fit.
See picture attached.
Hello! I am currently resurrecting my old spider and have replaced the boosters with new Bosch and new hoses all around from Centerline, and have moved to bleeding the system. Having a great helper (my daughter) pump and hold, we started at the farthest rear and seem to have endless air...
Wondering if anyone has a source for MC rebuild kits for a Duetto 67 -early ATE without booster, single circuit master cylinder. Centerline does not list and IAP says discontinued since 2010. their solution is to buy an entire new MC. Not the solution I was looking for.
I am finished with my race car (105) and found that I have extremely hard pedals. The setup is as follows:
- Tilton floor pedals
- Dual master cylinders for front and rear
- Rear with proportioning valve
- BMW 2002 Tii 4pod front callipers
- Bias adjuster
I read that guys would bore the master...
I'm regularly having to top off my brake fluid reservoir. I believe the fluid is seeping out of the bottom of the reservoir. Of the two rubber grommets connecting the reservoir to the master cylinder, the one closest to the firewall looks wet.
Advice on continuing my investigation...
I am stumped. I have a 65 Giulia 1600 Spider with Disc Brakes. I was pulling the car out of storage this summer and the brake pedal goes to the floor - all slave cylinders were rebuilt within the last 5 years w/all new rubber hoses. No fluid on the ground or on any wheel.
