  1. Spider - 105 & 115 Series (1966-1994)
As I continue to learn about what it means to own an older Alfa, I have decided to replace some of the ignition components. The car takes a few seconds to get going and I'm thinking it may help. After watching this short video: I have purchased a new coil, wire harness, spark plugs...

  3. Spider - 105 & 115 Series (1966-1994)
After getting warmed up, my 1985 Spider Veloce will coast and idle just fine, but when I give it more throttle under load it begins to misfire and hesitate. If I push in the clutch it revs just fine, same if it’s in neutral, but as soon as I let the clutch back out it goes back to hesitating...

Soooo I was putting a new fuel pump in my spider and got it all pumping and stuff. Just to realize that I lost ignition (yaaay!) what are some places to start looking for failures? I went to the coil to see if there is anything coming from the coil… nothing. Also my rpm gauge is no longer...
  5. Spider - 105 & 115 Series (1966-1994)
Hello Alfisti, I've made a short video on how to diagnose a misfire coming from spark plugs without any special tools. The Bosch L-Jetronic system is tricky, so this is a quick and dirty test to make sure you have proper ignition/spark. If you have any suggestions, comments, questions, or ideas...

  7. Spider - 105 & 115 Series (1966-1994)
Hello, Doing a bit of work in the engine bay on my '81 Spider. One of the projects is installing a European spec airbox for my carbs. Before purchasing the airbox, I noticed that the electronic ignition unit looks to be in the way of the airbox's intake (see pic #1). I would like to relocate...
  8. Alfetta & GTV6 (1972-1986)
Hey all, Hoping to get some advice on a fairly aggressive vibration my GTV6 has just picked up. The car begins to vibrate when under load, the vibration then seems to flatten out as the revs climb. Shift into the next gear and the vibration comes back. If I take my foot off the gas the...
  9. Giulietta & Giulia (1954-65)
Hi All; I've owned alfas since 1987 and overall it has been a good experience. I currently own 5 built from 1960 to 2018. All have their own flair and all have been reliable given their age. Recently, however, a number of them are developing issues all at the same time. I thought I would...

  13. Spider - 105 & 115 Series (1966-1994)
Good evening everyone! My car has developed a mild gremlin. Yesterday I went to start the car, and something under the dash started buzzing and the starter wouldn't engage. I checked battery voltage, 13v. Gave it another crank, same buzzing but after turning the key and holding it for a few...

Has anyone had any experience with the electronic distributor 22-5888 from Vick Auto? My 1987 Spider has ignition issues that I can't figure out. Seems like a logical choice. They sell for $150 which is half of what similar distributors sell for...

Hi all, I've been dealing with this issue for a while, and now I finally have the time and funds to tackle this issue. Background: 1977 Alfetta Sport Sedan with a 1981 Spider motor swap after the original motor blew. After the swap (done by local reputable Alfa specialist) I was driving on a...
  19. Spider - 105 & 115 Series (1966-1994)
My 1992 Spider has woven a web of intrigue - it eats distributor caps! It doesn't eat the whole distributor cap, instead is bakes the plastic next to the terminals and, once well done, eats holes next to the spark plug terminals. The first picture is the distributor cap that came with the car...
