  1. Suspension, Steering, Brakes, Wheels & Tires
Quick question.. I own a 1972 GT 1300 J that appears to have two brake fluid servos and reservoirs. I have seen this before a couple of times in other 105's but I don't see it in any of my manuals.. Would someone be able to explain this to me? I understand the left one is usually the main one...
  2. Suspension, Steering, Brakes, Wheels & Tires
Rather than re-posting verbatim I'll just leave a link here concerning my experiences with sub-standard "hard" brake line material sold as "Kunifer" or "Copper-Nickel" such as can be found on EBay, Amazon and some online parts outlets...
  3. Spider - 105 & 115 Series (1966-1994)
I am approaching (original) 20K miles in my 1992 Spider. Besides a slight hesitation on acceleration that I need assessed, everything else is just fine. As I am fortunate to have an excellent mechanic in Miami, I intend to have them give it a good going-over. I don't have a lot of service docs...

164 24v 1995 manual After rebuilding my front suspension the car is running beautifully on corners, at high speed and under acceleration but under hard braking am now getting vibration through the wheel. Don't recall ever suffering this before. Maybe some other issue that was previously unfelt...

  7. Alfetta & GTV6 (1972-1986)
First off, one thing that bothers me about my gtv6 is that when I put the hand brake on I can still move the car forward. ex: I was stopped on a 35-degree hill and had it stoped on its hand brake so it was not rolling back. So I set off and it took me 2 blocks to realize that the hand brake was...

Hi all, I had the brake caliper rebuild from a local shop. I notice that the rear brake piston hasn't the typical cut off design. There is only a slight signs of the cut off. It is possible that after 50 years of usage the piston have worn out so much? I attache some photos. Thanks.

There is a sleeve and extender on the base unit though - how to remove this? I've already undone the circlip but something still holding it in. Might just be tight with...
  12. 164 & 168 (1991-1995)
Hi, Just dropped a new brake balancer cylinder into my replacement rear subframe and pressure on the arm shows no visible movement of the cylinder. Is this normal? I took the cylinder out again and took off the detachable end part and applied a G-clamp to put pressure on one of the two...

  14. 164 & 168 (1991-1995)
Hi, Does anyone know the metal spec for the 20cm bolts at the bottom of the rear suspension on 164s? (non Q4). Is it 8.8 or 10.9? I ask because the 20cm bolts I removed from the inner tie rod ends were grade 10.9 but that subframe had been previously replaced so is this the standard grade? Also...

Hi, Have taken the brake balance stuff (technical term) off a series 2 164 rear subframe and noticed the plate used to transfer load to the rear balance bar is plastic. Aged and worn in the case of the one taken off. Looking to make a new one, quite possibly from a block of nylon 6 or 6/6...

Hi, While preparing to pop in a more solid rear subframe have been trying to obtain a new brake compensator/regulator valve unit - without success. Have any other 24v drivers tried to buy front discs and been plastered by adverts for great discs/rotors 284mm diameter and 22mm thick? Don't buy them. 24v cars need 281mm diameter discs/rotors that are 26mm thick. The 24v car is significantly more powerful and a bit heavier than the 12v 164s...
