Am looking to work on the zero after start, then 87psi at cold idle issue have had since previous oil change. Pressure relief valve on oil pump body so what is item 13 in this picture for Fiat ePER?
Am having a bit of an on-going issue with my 24v 3.0 1995 manual 164.
When first start the car, if it has been standing for a few days (the longer the worse the symptom), it takes a moment for the oil pressure to build - and then it goes over centre on the dial, to about 5 bar, until the...
I have a v6 from an alfa 164ls that i intend on putting in my triumph spitfire, the problem I've had so far is finding a transmission that would mount to the v6. I planned on using the zf from a maserati biturbo but cant find a bellhousing that would work. Any tip or help would be appreciated.
About 3 years and less than 15,000 miles ago I bought a DiFatta air inlet hose for a 24v Alfa 164, 3.0 manual, 1994. It started showing signs of perishing within a year and began suspecting it had split. Ridiculous considering the original lasted 20 years before failing.
Today, having been...
I bought a used Porsche 944 turbo AFM for a 24v 3.0 Alfa 164 manual, Bosch number 0280 203 026, and have just taken it apart. I could feel the spring loading was incorrect so guessed someone had tried refurbishing it and failed.
I took the lid off my original too for reference and resetting...
After a split main air intake hose for a 24v 164 3.0 was replaced a year ago with an aftermarket item, I thought it would be problem solved for years to come. I was wrong, as the aging signs on the pictures of it show.
This has inspired me to start looking at making up my own hose from separate...
Now that is has happened for the second time, 10 years apart, am able to offer this conclusion with some degree of confidence: put the 'wrong' spec oil filter in your 24v 164 and expect a cambelt jump shortly after.
The first time this happened was in 2008, the morning after an oil change...
I just recently finished with building a 164 24v engine into my gtv6.
i bought the engine wihtout hearing it run, and assumed it should be ok..
So the engine starts directly everytime i start it cold and hot,
on cold start it will run for about 15 seconds, and than it will swing...
I've had issues with the exhaust gas recirc pipe over the years. Mostly the banjo bolt coming loose and leaking exhaust/air where it connects to the rear manifold. Decided enough was enough. Pe-1995 models don't have it anyway.
Disconnected the lower banjo bolt - no problem. Disconnecting the...
Have any other 24v drivers tried to buy front discs and been plastered by adverts for great discs/rotors 284mm diameter and 22mm thick? Don't buy them.
24v cars need 281mm diameter discs/rotors that are 26mm thick. The 24v car is significantly more powerful and a bit heavier than the 12v 164s...
I recently purchased a 1999 156 24v LHD with a manual transmission. I'm loving the car, especially the noises!>:)
My brake booster failed and my shop is telling me that LHD boosters are unattainable and there is no one making replacements, just RHD ones. Seems odd to me considering how...
Have bought an OBD1 to OBD2 connector and and ELM237 bluetooth OBD2 reader and was planning to plug it all in but, even with the ECU exposed, where oh where is the OBD1 connector to be found? Have labelled the attached picture one to four. Could anyone who has found this please let me know...
When I acquired my 164 18 months ago it had a multitude of air leaks. All have now been fixed. I'm certain the previous owner had the air flow meter adjusted to compensate for the leaks. Annoyingly the arm of the AFM has been moved. I completely appreciate this is factory set and should never be...
In the process of dropping new pivot bearings into the serpentine belt tensioner for a 3.0 24v 164.
Got two new bearings, OD20mm, HK1414RS, and went to push the old ones out today only to realise they sit in a 21mm OD sleeve.
Can't think of any way of pushing the old bearings out of this...
In the process of replacing the cambelt on a 1996 164 3.0 24v and two questions:
1) Where to fine the timing mark for the crank? Have been searching and can't see anything, except the tooth-free segment for the crank-sensor.
2) Have noticed there is zero air-gap on the tensioner piston...
Thinking of buying a spare LCD/climate control unit for a 1995 164, UK spec, and have found different Bosch part numbers for what looks like the same unit: 9 140 010 175 being the number on mine.
Can I ask if the external temperature readout on US spec cars is in degrees C or F ? If US...
Was driving a 1994 3.0 24v 164 quite hard today and, just for a split second, engine power cut - was around 4,000 to 5,000rpm at the time.
It was so brief and brutal think it had to be electrical. Not done it before, that I know of, but concerned it could be a warning of something about to...
Have discovered the serpentine belt tensioner pivot on my 1995, 24v 3.0 164 is worn.
It seems to have a sleeve which, in theory, could be replaced. Has anyone tried this or found any other fix?
Sounds like the bearing on my 24v 1995 164 3.0 water pump is not a happy bunny as the revs go above 2,000rpm so going to change it.
Know it's a cambelt change too but that's also pretty much due anyway.
Question is, can the water pump be changed without having to remove any of the cam...
