History
Bought this car advertised as a very good runner, broke down 5 times on the way home. Car overheated and didn't charge, had to find a battery on the hard shoulder of a motorway on a Sunday ! Came home with no lights and no windscreen wipers to save battery power to keep ignition. Soaked from a leaking roof and frozen from the cold, I hated this car with gusto from day 1.
I bought internal parts for the alternator in US and managed to get it working again. The overheating was due to a gummed up heating valve which was a treat to replace under the dashboard, replaced the heating pipe in the same process. Next I overhauled the complete rear suspension, replacing all bushes from T-bar, rear trailing arms and sway bar with poly versions. Replaced all 4 shocks (still had 3 spica ones in and 1 modern one), also replaced front castor knuckle and bushes. Replaced one U-joint in the driveshaft, together with bearing and bearing support.
