Well I started the car and it goes it gear without grinding. But the brakes since un seizing them when we pulled it out of the field have gotten stuck again. Probably from sitting for 8 months in the garage. The car did move but it did struggle because of the brakes. I let it run long enough...

Well for my birthday my lovely wife bought me a new battery for my Alfa. And what do you know with a new battery she starts right up now. So far all I replaced in the car that sat since 2006 is 2 ground cables, ignition switch, and a battery and she runs pretty darn good. So today I will jack...

  4. Bad Positive Cable????Need help.

    Spider - 105 & 115 Series (1966-1994)
Im pretty sure it was just the lug on the end of the cable that was hot. I will have to double check later today....I don't think the cable itself was hot. Hopefully it's just a bad end. Because what is weird is It had 12 volts from neg post to positive lug and than if I tried to start the...
  5. Bad Positive Cable????Need help.

    Spider - 105 & 115 Series (1966-1994)
I think I am going to take the battery out of my car and try to start the Alfa with it. The battery in the Alfa was in my Vibe GT and when it would get cold out the battery would turn my Vibe over slowly. That was 6 months ago so maybe that battery crapped the bed.
  6. Bad Positive Cable????Need help.

    Spider - 105 & 115 Series (1966-1994)
I am talking about the positive cable from the battery to the starter. I replaced the 2 main grounds, the battery and the transmission housing to the frame. I will go ohm out the battery cables....they are currently unhooked.
  7. Bad Positive Cable????Need help.

    Spider - 105 & 115 Series (1966-1994)
OK I replaced the bad ground on the transmission tunnel and then charged the battery. Went to start it and the positive cable kept getting super hot and dropping voltage. I think the battery is bad....but also I hooked up jumper cables and got 14 volts but when turning the engine over it...
  8. Finally a little time to work on the Alfa....

    Spider - 105 & 115 Series (1966-1994)
Yep it was surprisingly the bolts came out and I wire wheeled everything and put a new ground cable on. Put the key to on and the gauge showed 10 volts but it turned over slowly. Before even when trying to jump start it did nothing. I have the battery sitting on a 10 amp charger right now...

    Spider - 105 & 115 Series (1966-1994)
Well I finally had a little time to work on the Spider. I can't even get it to turn over anymore. So I finally jacked it up and crawled under her. Found the negative ground strap 85% gone just hanging on by a few threads. And I also noticed were the crank sensor is the wire that is butted...

    Spider - 105 & 115 Series (1966-1994)
OK I went to remove the ignition switch this morning. I got to where I can see the security bolt but the problem is if you read the thread you have to put the key in and turn it to the ON position to remove the bolt. I don't have a key so I just stopped where I am at. Should I bother trying...

I have called a few locksmiths and no one wants to touch the ignition for some reason. I tried to remove the ignition switch and its a PITA. I got the bottom plastic off and the top is stuck between the instrument cluster and the column. Is there a special way to get this out?
