  1. Frozen driveshaft flange bolts

    Spider - 105 & 115 Series (1966-1994)
I think (as in I am not sure so wait for confirmation from someone who knows) that those bolts are an odd size - like 9mm. If so, be very wary about breaking them as that is a very unusual size - something not easily sourced. As for penetrating oils, I use PB Blaster - I can easily find it on...

    Spider - 105 & 115 Series (1966-1994)
Click the link in my signature (first you have to click show full signature) for a web page with lots of info about the L-jet stuff in our cars. L-jet is a system - all the bits have to work for it to work at all. Common issues for no start conditions are low system voltage, iffy grounds, &...

  7. Expansion tank GTV6

Alfa Romeo Parts For Sale & Wanted
Maybe if you can get 6-8 ready buyers they'd make another run? Just make it clear that YOU are not buying 6-8 of them yourself! Or maybe you could convince Centerline to buy a quantity?

  10. Clutch doesn’t engage, no gears work

    Spider - 105 & 115 Series (1966-1994)
    1) Driving a car after the brake fluid reservoir was empty without diagnosing the problem and fixing it is foolhardy. Brakes are rather high on the List of Important Things - they must be 100% dependable. B) It is very likely there was air in the line. You may have been lucky in encouraging...
  11. L jet flywheel sensors

    Engine Repair, Diagnostics & Rebuilding
The original TDC mark (at the 16) was very shallow. But the location of the nib (at the 10) that triggers the sensor should be visible. Did the machinist maintain the relationship between the clutch mounting surface & the friction surface?

  13. ‘82 Spider, green heater switch questions

    Spider - 105 & 115 Series (1966-1994)
I think our '84 Spider has a dim bulb for low speed and a brighter bulb for not-as-slow speed. I think the most important factor is proper hand motion. Words, by themselves, are insufficient.
  14. Oil Pressure Gauge Spiked!

    GT (1963-1977)
So if the wire at the sender is disconnected (or otherwise broken) will the gauge be pegged at its high stop?
  15. Time for warmup at freezing temperatures

    164 & 168 (1991-1995)
You could try slipping a piece of cardboard in front of the radiator. Cover about 1/2 the area. Our GTV6 takes a long while to warm up - perhaps 10 minutes. I removed the T-stat & tested it but it seems to work properly. Our Spider warms up quickly - less than 5 minutes.
  16. Oil Pressure Gauge Spiked!

    GT (1963-1977)
The gauge will be pegged at the high stop if the wire at the sender is grounded (touches bare metal). I do not know the specifics of your '69 GTV but other model Alfa's usually have two senders - one for the gauge and another for a low oil pressure warning light. Is the wire to the filter...
  17. 85 GTV Locking Gas Cap Borked

    Alfetta & GTV6 (1972-1986)
There is an inexpensive Stant replacement that fits the GTV6. It does not fill the opening in the body like the correct gas cap but might be a good alternative until one finds an affordable original. See: https://www.alfabb.com/threads/gas-cap-on-ebay.294841/
  18. '84 Spider Chronic In-Tank Fuel Pump Failure

    Spider - 105 & 115 Series (1966-1994)
Have you been able to retrieve the filter sock? I dunno if it is vital but... Have you changed the main filter (near the main pump)? The in-tank pump is a low pressure helper. A faulty main (high pressure) pump would cause poor running I'd assume. Check for any restrictions between the...

  20. 1969 work - oil sump cracks ?

    Spider - 105 & 115 Series (1966-1994)
My guess is that those are not cracks but left over from the casting process. They are more visible now due to the crud (technical term...). Unless you actually see oil oozing out I'd not worry about them.
