    Alfa Romeo Montreal
Thanks Rob I agree with you... I'm very grateful that we have people like Karl with the talents and expertise that are prepared to stick their necks out and reproduce various parts that no longer available. It's never nice to be let down with cancelled orders but I'm sure someone will be keen to...

    Alfa Romeo Montreal
Great news Dale. I won't get down to the engine builder till next week when I have to drop an engine off. But will get the info for further reference anyway should you/anyone else still need it.
  5. Light weight starter motor

    Alfa Romeo Montreal
The motor is on top as it's a gear reduction starter. I'll dig out a photo of it installed to gave you an idea of size. but as you can tell it's not very big and a miniature compared to the original.
  6. Light weight starter motor

    Alfa Romeo Montreal
Hi Joe. Yes can be done as I've done it, not a big modification, but does require some trial and error to get the alignment correct so it engages correctly. You only end up with 2 bolts holding it in. (or I did in my case) For my replacement race engine I decided to use an off the shelf...
  7. Timing chain cover removal

    Alfa Romeo Montreal
I've never seen those V shaped bits of wire in any of my engines. So can't provide any idea on what and why. but very odd to have them sitting in the bottom of your engine.
  8. Alfa-romeo-typo-33-stradale-continuation

    Limited Production (1960-1977)
I agree Vince... While perhaps I have some leeway for those really talented individuals who have skills to create a amazing continuation/replicas, you would think they would have the wherewithal to realise they don't have the talents to create an advert seeking someone to commit to a 600,000...

  10. Radio Blanking Plate

    Alfa Romeo Montreal
Thanks for your offer, but I'm looking to get a little more as these are getting real hard to find an original. In reality I'm looking to get $250 USD to part with it and should have been upfront from the start. Phil.
  11. Radio Blanking Plate

    Alfa Romeo Montreal
Hi all. I have an original radio blanking plate that has been sitting unused on a shelf in my office for a long time. I had intended at some stage to try and mount it in my race car, by in reality there is probably more deserving cars in need of it to complete a restoration project. (I also...
  12. Alfa Radio codes 147

    New Zealand Forum
Hi Justine. You could try: https://www.radio-code.co.uk/fiat-radio-codes.html Has the head unit been replaced if the code you got from Alfa NZ didn't work? Unfortunately none of the ECU scanning software can reset the codes, so the only alternative is to visit the dealer and order a "CODE...
  13. Montreal Cam Cover modification

    Alfa Romeo Montreal
I suspect it would be an engine breather connection to catch tank. I run a similar setup. Do you know what happened to the rest of the cooper? Regards Phil.
  14. Timing chain cover removal

    Alfa Romeo Montreal
Yes I removed the studs and then replaced with bolts. I also would agree with Don, it only take a few hours to remove the engine, and most likely if i had to do a water pump again I'd remove the engine from the car. I've just got back from a short family break, so will dig out the parts...
  15. Timing chain cover removal

    Alfa Romeo Montreal
Hi Pete From memory I undid the engine mounts, removed the dizzy cap (for it's protection), and then jacked up the engine a good inch to gain access. Regards Phil.
  16. Timing chain cover removal

    Alfa Romeo Montreal
Hi Pete. I believe you will need to remove the sump as the font timing cover houses the oil pump and I'm fairly sure the scavenge side pickup attaches at the bottom. I can double check for you tonight when I get home from the office. Regards Phil.
  17. Transmission shifter movement, is it normal? HELP!

    Alfa Romeo Montreal
Thanks Johny. I spoke with Anton, and he wanted to know if the Montreal's have the "ZF Selector Tie" modification which is something they do to the Escort rally cars he services. (See page 3 of the .pdf he emailed me) My cars gearboxes have a variation of this, and I presume came this way from...

  19. Transmission shifter movement, is it normal? HELP!

    Alfa Romeo Montreal
Hi john. Do you have a video of the moment by chance? I had a look in some of my videos and the gear stick is rock solid... e.g. And I'm about as aggressive as you could be on a Montreal gear-change, so suspect something is not right if I understand you correctly and you have ruled out the...
