  2. Drum stuck on my left rear wheel-65 Giulia Spider

    Giulietta & Giulia (1954-65)
No panic, no cigar (I smoked for 20 years and know it now!!!), no propane, but 2 martinis with Bombay Sapphire Gin helped me.
  3. Drum stuck on my left rear wheel-65 Giulia Spider

    Giulietta & Giulia (1954-65)
And indeed it did; perhaps the application of a penetrating oil made up of equal parts of acetone and automatic transmission fluid injected into around the studs, the two screw holes and the junction of the hub with the axle, using a VERY fine hypodermic needle/syringe (like diabetics use for...
  4. Drum stuck on my left rear wheel-65 Giulia Spider

    Giulietta & Giulia (1954-65)
Here is my story: I rebuilt the brake master cylinder and bled the brakes about a week ago. On a test drive, I got on the brakes hard and locked up one brake, presumably the left rear, as past testing with the left rear wheel off the ground indicated this wheel was dragging. The brake pedal is...
  5. Drum stuck on my left rear wheel-65 Giulia Spider

    Giulietta & Giulia (1954-65)
Both are stuck; the square adjuster bolt and the drum, although I can wiggle (scientific term) the drum on the axle about 1/16 of an inch laterally. The wheel bolts are soaking now with penetrating fluid on them.

  10. 1965 Giulia Spider-"Caulking"

    Giulietta & Giulia (1954-65)
I have pictures of my car as received that have tan or black dum-dum (caulking ) around the perimeter of both the fresh air inlets at the firewall.... anyone else seen this? The metal fittings do not butt up well with the firewall and am I correct in assuming the caulking was installed to...
  11. 101 Spider Heater installation questions

    Giulietta & Giulia (1954-65)
In my 65 Veloce Spider, AR 390277, the inlet hose to the heater box is on the far left. See photos On my car the hose from the casting that runs from the thermostat housing goes to the heater valve; the hose out of the heater valve has a 90 degree bend and it goes thru the firewall at the...
  12. 65 Veloce-front rotors

    Giulietta & Giulia (1954-65)
Thanks Thierry; mine are 13.0 and 13.3 mm.. My brakes do not seem to stop well compared to more modern cars; are there special pads and brake shoes that might improve the stopping distance?
  13. 65 Veloce-front rotors

    Giulietta & Giulia (1954-65)
What is the minimum thickness for the brake rotors?

  16. Lug nuts - torque

Can you recommend a torque value for the brass lug nuts on a 65 Veloce Spider? Thanks all.
  17. Engine paint question

    Giulietta & Giulia (1954-65)
I do not think the engine block on my 65 Veloce Spider-AR 390277 was painted. I am the second owner and the first owner never removed the engine and I have not painted it. Ciao.
  18. Engine paint question

    Giulietta & Giulia (1954-65)
Here are a few images of my 1965 Veloce Spider cam cover-AR 390277; I think it was painted with a product like silver Hammertone. I think the remaining paint has tinges of green, possibly patina or maybe original, who knows.
  19. Engine paint question

    Giulietta & Giulia (1954-65)
My block was not painted, as best I can tell. The cam cover shows evidence of a silver hammertone on it.
  20. Engine paint question

    Giulietta & Giulia (1954-65)
Do we know when the cam covers were not painted?
