  2. For Sale 1974 Spider

Alfa Romeo Cars For Sale & Wanted
Congrats Jeff, well sold. As the owner of a similar, if rustier, '74 I was watching this one closely. Glad it found a new home.
  3. 73 Spider heater control

    Spider - 105 & 115 Series (1966-1994)
Here's the black one, I think they have a chrome version as well, maybe intended for GTVs Classic Alfa Heater Facia Panel
  4. You Know You're A Geezer......

    Spider - 105 & 115 Series (1966-1994)
That Spider on the single post lift looks so streamlined with its wheels retracted!
  5. You Know You're A Geezer......

Is it just me or does the floor get further down every year?

  7. Caption Contest

    Spider - 105 & 115 Series (1966-1994)
Tony came to believe that two heads are not necessarily better than one...
  8. tried to start, lost all electrical power

    Spider - 105 & 115 Series (1966-1994)
Just to emphasize, my issue was with the end of the ground cable that gets clamped into the cable terminal. Mine look like this: I pulled my hair out for a week chasing this, finally disassembled the cable terminals and found heavy corrosion on the cable end wire itself.
  9. tried to start, lost all electrical power

    Spider - 105 & 115 Series (1966-1994)
My best guess is that with corrosion on the wires under theconnector, the actual contact area is pretty minimal. Enough to flow a few amps when you turn the key on but when you try and start it the big hit of juice it sort of instantly oxidizes the small number of wire strands actually in...
  10. tried to start, lost all electrical power

    Spider - 105 & 115 Series (1966-1994)
I had similar issues, even after cleaning connections, etc. It turned out to be corrosion on the ground wire underneath the clamp itself. I was able to cut off and re-strip the wire as a temporary fix and then sourced a new ground cable, I think from Amazon.
  11. Sun Visor Screws

    Spider - 105 & 115 Series (1966-1994)
May I just say that I am clearly among my people when we are concerned about color matching screw covers in a place than non-OCD people will never notice. Well done and carry on!
  12. Wind Deflector for my Spider(Opinions on if or which?)

    Spider - 105 & 115 Series (1966-1994)
I find it to be quite effective (and wife approved) with the windows up at higher speeds. Helpful with the windows down at lower speeds but not nearly as effective.
  13. 79 Spider on a dyno - The Sequel

    Spider - 105 & 115 Series (1966-1994)
Sounds like a plan, good chance my wife lands a consulting gig in the neighborhood and I'll tag along.

  18. 69 ALfa Spider 1750 speedo sticks at 40 mph

    Spider - 105 & 115 Series (1966-1994)
I recently partially disassembled mine and lubricated the mechanism. Mine wasn't sticking at a particular speed but it was really noisy and pretty unstable, bouncing all over. I used the instructions on this thread...
  19. Turbina Lug Torque

    Spider - 105 & 115 Series (1966-1994)
My '74 Owners Manual says (very precisely) 43.4-57.8 lb-ft. That's always seemed pretty loose to me, I do 70 lb-ft.
  20. SPICA fuel pump relay

    Spider - 105 & 115 Series (1966-1994)
I should have added that I ran new wiring in addition to incorporating the relay to the fuel pump.
