Bad day/ good day at the dealership

Today I took my Stelvio in for the first year complimentary service which included oil change, tire rotation, safety inspection. Also there was a recall to reset the ECU. Total mileage was 7882 and purchase date was December 6, 2017. The local dealership charged me for the complimentary service, not the recall. Reason: I was 8 days overdue even though the reserved appointment was made prior to 12/06/18.
I paid since it was evident the dealship was not going to waiver the time.
I called Alfa USA when I got home. They agreed to reimburse the fee charged by the dealership and were quite agreeable.
Considering the amount of expense it has taken to re-establish the Alfa brand in the USA, why would a dealer jeopardize all this gain for a few days.
Alfa recommends 10k miles between oil changes so I was within their mileage but, yes, outside the calendar year.
Happy Alfa USA recognized the folly of this incident.
The dealership carrys a longtime Alfa Romeo supporters name but was sold following his death. The new ownership needs to not embarrass his memory and reputation.
Cheers, Jon

Had my stereo go out, appt takes 2 weeks. No voicemail after 8am, dealer phone just went in circles. Seriously stupid. Frustrating that good cars n brand are spoiled by idiots tasked with interfacing the end users. Tesla has it right. Bypass the clowns n handle things direct. Rant over
