1985 Spider Veloce. Took it out this morning on a couple of short trips. Returned and sat for about an hour or so and will not start. Cranks but does not fire. Ideas? Oh ran battery down so no real diagnosis for a couple hours.

Could be lacking the required voltage at the Ecu? How healthy is the battery?

Click the link in my signature for a page of info about the L-jet system in our cars.

In addition to checking for system voltage (voltmeter on battery while cranking), check the two flywheel sensors. They tell the computer the crankshaft is turning and its position.

charge battery fully, then check cranking voltage: if under about 11V "whilst cranking", the ECU won't work.

then tell us if you have spark or not so we don't have to chase both ignition and fuel problems....;)

if no spark, check flywheel sensors.
if spark but no start, then we can chase fuel problems
