'78 Spider Veloce:
Following advice from these forums I applied silicone lube to the interior connection of the Speedo cable in order to address the "bouncing needle" at low speeds and Non-registering before 10 mph.
Only moderate success.
However.....
Now my RESET for the trip odometer won't budge! Handle pushed in or out. Locked in place. Dismantling frees it, and the cable spins freely, but when reconnected, stuck again.
Both odometers still move forward, just no reset to zero with the trip.
Any ideas that won't cost me $120 an hour?
Also, I am getting ready to replace the tachometer cable that has been severed at the engine connection. Not really sure how to thread the connecting end though the firewall.
Thanks for whatever.
Thanks

Too impatient to stop fiddling, I found that making certain that the outer cable housing must be pushed FIRMLY into the collar that holds it in place.
Apparently, "Bob is now my Uncle".
I'll leave this for whoever it may help.
I'd still appreciate guidance with the Tachometer cable replacement.
Thanks!

I think it would help immensely if you identify the year and model of your car.

Garage
Tach cable is easy. Remove tach. Remove cable. Replace cable. Reinstall tach.

It's Giuseppe's giubos, not Guido's guibos, on my 78 Alfas
REFRESH CONNECTIONS BEFORE REPLACING COMPONENTS
