Lighting upgrade

I've upgraded exterior lights to led all around. Now I'd like to do the same inside. My questions are: how many bulbs are behind the Tach and the Speedo? Also are the fuel, temp & oil gauges removable, or will I have to reach behind?

I've done this and don't remember.

I could go check my parts stash and look at the speedo and tach....

As for the tri-pod of gauges, it can be done with them in the car if you take the side trims off.

It's Giuseppe's giubos, not Guido's guibos, on my 78 Spider and Sport Sedan

On 2nd generation dashboards (up to '86) - 4 bulbs each gauge, including the interior fan light.
3 small gauges take 4 bulbs if I'm not mistaken. It's possible to reach them if you pull out the radio and have a thin hand palm.

I did this earlier this year (S2 Spider) and I think changing the indicator, stop/tail bulbs is essential in todays traffic, just to be seen. I have also switched the front side lights to 21w equivalent LEDS to act as DRL's without effecting the look of the car.
FSM72GTV likes this.

Daily drive is a Giulia 2.0 MA, wife drives a 939 Spider in the summer and a Abarth 595 in the winter. For special sunny days we have a S2 Spider Junior in the garage.

Hi Guys,

Can anybody list the type and part number of LED lights used to convert for all interior and exterior lights for an S2 spider?

Thank you in advance for any help.

Ciao Frank

Tri gauges take four plus the four warning lights (8).
The speedo and tach take six but you might have trouble with the alternator light if it doesn't draw enough current. (6)
Don't forget the directional indicator while you're at it. (1)
I'll have to dig for the part number. I can't remember if I bought them off Amazon or ebay.

As mentioned, pull off the right side panel and you can get to the tri gauges.

Hii how was your experience with the led lights? Can I use led lights in a truck which I use for NYC 24-hour towing services? Is it good or is it legal to use led lights in a truck which is used for towing purpose?

If you're in the towing business, you would know that tow trucks were some of the first vehicles in America to utilize LED lights.

Yeah, I need super tiny hands! Quite difficult to manipulate things in that confined space!
