OK,
but first you really need to confirm the voltage whilst cranking, or we will all be going around in circles

Like I said if not showing 11V+ or thereabouts, nothing will work....it doesn't matter if your battery is reading a tip top 12.6V statically....you need to check cranking voltage, and you do not go by the voltgauge in the instrument cluster.

Hopefully you have a voltmeter? measure across the battery +/- poles and then crank the starter....let us know how many volts you get (useful to have someone else on hand, as the battery is in the trunk)

if that is good, move on to the flywheel sensor checks as per the 'L-jetronic spider diagnosis' (see post #10 above in Eric's signature)

if in the meantime you want to do something simple, then remove the shelf behind the seats. there you have an ECU and 2 relays....unplug and plug back the 2 relays a couple of times, just to make sure the contacts are OK.

Well, thanks for the help.
I indicated in an above post that I checked cranking voltage...It was 11.2
This happened suddenly after running perfectly just by putting dwell meter on the minus coil stud.

And a very loud buzz came from back at the ecu

I am sure I must of cooked it...tried everything else....

I'll take it to the shop

OK that is ideal cranking voltage (although I cannot see where you mentioned it above...)
(your edit: 11.2V is ideal as well!)

maybe you did fry the ignition ecu
the ignition ECU is the one behind the rear side carpet, passenger side
Bosch number for L-jetronic spiders is 0 227 400 003

you could send it out for checking/repairing to ECU doctors....costly, though you could send it to them for testing, just to be sure.

let us know how it goes.

Again...thank you all (especially spiderseries4) for your help.
She runs again!
Didn't see test lamp pulse in the sun...it is subtle.

Original HT cable came out hard...and looked really bad on the ends...almost crumbling apart.
Replaced HT with a new generic one...Seated it very well...

Gave it a few cranks...and success!
Shakey and abeasley like this.

I am so glad you found the issue! Isn't it strange how we will think of all kinds of crazy scenarios of what could be wrong while we overlook the simplest, easiest checks..... let this be a lesson to us all!

you might want to inspect the plug leads.
If the HT lead was almost crumbling apart, the spark leads might be showing similar signs of age.
