My other Alfa, a '67 Duetto, usually doesn't have fumes in the cabin. That's why I started the thread in the first place.

One thing to make sure is good is the trunk seal. If its not sealing all the way around it will let exhaust fumes into the car. In most case this is the cause more then anything else.

there is one other item implicated in this 'fume in cabin' saga. The long black plastic shield that runs between the body and the bumper thats about 2 1/2 inches wide.. If its not there, you are more likely to be breathing fumes.

I have a straight tip, no rear bumper, and no exhaust fumes. S2 Spider.

New exhaust system with no leaks........

It's Giuseppe's giubos, not Guido's guibos, on my 78 Spider and Sport Sedan

I have had no smell with the Ansa twin tip for ~30 years-ish except in times of malfunction of vapor recovery system. Solve the vapor recovery issues, solve the smell in cabin. Top up or down.

With upturned tips does condensation and rainwater collecting occur when the motor is not running, or is there a weep hole to prevent this?

No weep hole as far as I know. The tips do not extend past the bumper ( no shin banging or casual water access ) - and I take to the speedy wash a few times a year, and squirt [blast] down the tips whilst there, A good run home, blows the water out. No rust issues, either.

I have the system installed now and I agree it does not seem like a huge difference diameter-wise. Getting it all lined up was a bit of pain, though. Boy does it sound different!

The (incorrect) upturned Ansa tips on my blue spider were completely rusted out. This car hasn't seen rain in at least a decade so I can only assume that it was all from cold-start condensation. That tip is now in the trash and the left turned ones from my red Alfa have replaced them temporarily. Turns out the stock exhaust with the ansa tip is also very loud, so I am replacing the whole exhaust with a new stock reproduction system from Classic Alfa. So one car (with the 2000 engine) has a Magna Flow system from Alfaholics and the other (the 1750) will have a new stock-reproduction system from Classic Alfa. Both systems have left-turning pipes.

Thats the only beauty about the rubber bumpers. There far enough out that it doesn't let rain water into them.
