I recently pulled my drive-train out to rebuild the transmission and degrease the engine but after reinstalling everything back tried to start it noticed coolant leaking at the exhaust pipe just before the oxygen sensor. It couldn't be the head gasket because the engine was running fine before I did all of this work so I took the intake hose off and took a peek at the throttle body and noticed coolant there. Any ideas why coolant is there? Could the throttle body valve went bad? Appreciate any help. Thanks.
eek...not pretty.
can't imagine why as you only removed the engine and put it back again, but maybe a hairline crack in the throttle body casting where the hose from waterpump to heater hose join at those brass fittings...?
I pulled the entire intake manifold off and inspected the throttle body for any signs of any crack and no signs found. I do see a lot of coolant in the cylinders could my head gasket have gone bad? I drained the oil and yup coolant is present but why would coolant be pushed back into the intake? Is this even possible. Any help is greatly appreciated.
I opened the valve covers today and what a mess. I guess I'll be pulling the head off and changing the head gasket. Thanks for your reply.
