hahahahaha!

finally figured it out after realizing that anything I did that seemed to push on the plenum changed the frequency of the whistling. put the car outside in some much better light and found the problem. man I'm glad that search is over.... now I have to figure out where my tiny coolant leak is coming from. arrrrgh...

Probably happened when you landed hard after that last jump

I know the noise you were describing. A friend was putting the intake on his BMW 320i after getting his head rebuilt, and didn't tighten down the bolts enough. Didn't own a torque wrench, either. He called in a panic because of the intense whistling, and was afraid it was metal on metal. It was loud! Like a jet engine. We were relieved when we finally found that they were loose.

So I'm having to use black silicone temporarily until my new plenum hoses come in.

New plenum hoses installed, and we are now "whistle-less!" Also cleaned out and painted my oil separator while I was in there.
