When thinking of converting from a "mono" to a 4 throttle plate set up, the pump from the "mono" will not work on the quad. You will need to source an earlier pump and possibly have it rebuilt.

Hi Rick,

Thanks for the note. Good to know about that! I see that you have an 81 as well. Have you made mods to upgrade with earlier components?

Cheers

Only in the form of bumpers, replacing the restrictive 81 exhaust manifold with a header (deleting the air pump injection), and converting the distributor to a single pickup. I was looking at going to the quad set up but, having a fresh Ingram rebuild on my pump, I decided to stay with the mono. (at least until that money tree I planted starts bearing fruit)

Can you post a pick of your bumper upgrade Rick? One of the things I want to do aesthetically is replace that horrible rear bumper.

Cheers

I don't have a pic available, my Alfa is slumbering in it's garage a couple of blocks away. I sourced a rear bumper from an earlier s2. I collapsed the front bumper shocks to allow the bumper to be pushed closer to the body which improved the looks greatly.

While the 80/81 pump is not the best performing pump. It will work fine with the earlier "Quad" manifold. I have done many of these conversions back in the day.

Welcome aboard Tush...I also remember you from to 6pack forum...I sold my GT 6 convertible (GT 6 w Spitfire rear body) and my T6 a few years ago...bought my Spider...love it...the Alfa has a few more HP than the Tr6 s...my old 71 had 115...and my buddies still rib me about when I "raced" a 2010 Ford Shelby Mustang...I gave it all, lots of black soot came out...lol...he left me behind, only had 625 more horses

Whereabouts are you located? I think I knew ,but forgot...

I was told by board members using the mono pump on a quad system would result in cylinder wall washing. I asked Wes and he confirmed it.

I'm not about to argue with Wes. I was basing it on the 9 or 10 we did at the Alfa shop I worked at in the mid 80's to early 90's. They ran better and did not seem to run rich.

I have been having fun and doing a lot of reading of manuals/spica troubleshooting/set up etc. over the past week. I almost even ordered some basic parts like the fuel filters/oil filter/spica filter etc but the car hasn't even been picked up yet by the Transport company...I guess I will have to be patient!

Cheers
