Good news!
As Vin says, put an emergency cable on the hood pronto, because when that breaks and the hood is closed, it is a real

I ran my emergency hood pull cable across from the latch, to the brake master cylinder, then downward along the body structure next to the speedo encoder, and hung a ring on the end so I could pull it from underneath. I used 50 lb. test nylon fishing line.

Photos of Access Hole Below Trunk Latch

Here are a couple of photos showing the access hole from above the latch on my '74 S2.

Top of both photos is the rear end of the trunk; the open end at the bottom faces the trunk.

I'd be curious if anyone has been successful in releasing the latch from this access hole. If so, please tell us about how it went.

I got it open, then I removed the latch from the trunk lid. The 89 is going into storage for the winter. I will be working on a latch mechanism and using my 87 to prove it over the winter. Thanks for asking. I love all the help from everyone. Thanks again.
