Question S4 recirculation system

Hello Everyone,

Having a strong gas smell from the trunk or rear of the car, especially with the top down. It seems that the fuel vapor recirculation system is not properly installed, probably after unprofessional sound installation I had experienced. As an example, the line with the valve from the box goes into the hole under the fuel cap where the excess fuel front the gas pump supposed to go.

Seeking help with these questions:
1) where the fuel vapor recirculator plastic box is originally positioned? Mine is on the panel where the tail lights are
2) anyone has a diagram on where the hoses go in and out from the fuel vapor box?

My car is a 1993 Spider Veloce Automatic.

Thanks!

There are a few threads about the fuel system (you might have seen these already but incase you have not). The ones centered around gas smell and pressure buildup should have what you are looking for.

Here is a list of some of the ones I found:

normally the plastic vapour tank (#3 in diagram) is behind the flip down carpet in the trunk....never heard of it on the tail light panel! (but maybe Automatic S4 were different...someone?)

here is a nice diagram of the S4 system (from anothr BB member) with key legend (nb. there is also a thin hard plastic tube inside the vapour tank, not clearly shown on original diagram, that needs checking too)
