Hi Alfa fans - I let my daughter borrow my daily drive while her car is down for repair. I drove my 84 spider to work. When I walk out of work today it was raining. :-( I just washed and wax the spider over the weekend! The good news is the water beaded right off. :-) It looks like I will be commuting in my Spider all week. Happy trails.

It looks good from your picture. Are you going to keep the car red? What year is the spider?

I had such a fun ride home from work today. Top down, sun was out and driving through San Francisco is always a good time.

It's a 20 footer. I've buffed off about 35 years of oxidation from that car, but once I did that it left the clear coat thin and could see lots of sun fade in the paint. Not necessarily neglect, but just years of use. One owner car and they spend bundles on the drivetrain, and little on the body and paint. I inherited that quest.

Car is Signal red, but will get a brighter shade of Alfa red. My GTV6 is a mix of Alfa Red and Ferrari 322 red. The Spider looks orange in comparison. Not for long.

Sort of tough to tell with the garage lighting

I replaced my old Bosch battery, purchased in 11/2009, with a new one from Advance Auto Parts. It was on life support for a few years. So nice to turn the key and have the car start right up. Worth every penny of the $160 it cost. And tomorrow, 4/11, is the 10 year anniversary of my ownership of our '87 Spider.

I removed the in tank pump to replace the little stepped hose and fish out the filter socks that kept popping off the pump. It drove me nuts for a year to think of those things floating around...my pump has been intermitant, also. Once out, I decided to just buy a new sending unit, as one of the small wires was just a thread, and the float had fuel inside of it. I'll tackle again next week when the sending unit arrives.

I've had my S4 for just a few weeks and the filthy engine bay was bugging me. I will be doing a full de-grease on the lower regions but for now just some elbow grease and snake oil makes it less painful to gaze upon.

I took my New to me 78 Spider on it's first long drive. The Wife and I went to Cape may NJ.

She was humming along great top down down the Garden State Parkway. It reminded me about how I used to go up and down this road 30 years ago in my 87 Spider, but no NJ State Police helicopters following me this time.

We had a great time, and I have the sunburn to prove it! I did buy a hat in Cape May for the drive back.

I bought chrome lug nut caps for my Spider from eBay China.

Good way to cover the rusted ones if yours are rusted.

Nothing nicer to open the bonnet and having a great engine compartment. Looks great!

I finished up a recent set of repairs, including replacing the oil pump and installing a new head gasket.

Running great again.
