Today I did take a ride with my wife across the bay bridge in San Francisco and the spider ran so smooth. I always have such a fun time in my car.

The contacts are not coming together, so you need to shim the piece on the trunk lid, the body, or both. I used some sheet rubber, but there are many ways to do it.

might be worth checking the two rubber bump stops on back corners of lid are not too far screwed out
(iow. does the trunk lid sit too proud of the body, or is it nice and flush)

70's spiders had ones that just pop in, but I think your 84 will have the later screw type bump stops, like these.

It worked. 1 of the 3 lights came on and stay on. The other two had no power to the metal contacts. I check the back side of the bracket and no power. The ground is tight and the rest of the rear lights work.

Changed the plugs, took out B7ES and put in BPR6EIX NGK iridium. I also hooked up the timing light to confirm that I was on the M mark at 5G.

I got a chance to take the spider 40 miles to a work meeting, down the interstate. Let the stink blow off of it, ran great and had a couple chances to blow it out with a proper Italian tune up. Heat in the morning, AC inthe afternoon. Good day.

I got inspired to go find, what turned out to be my paper from Elvira at Alfa about the birth of my 77. I did find it in the end, two hours later. Turns out it was mailed in 97 and not emailed... I had sent in a fax request.
