I pulled the clutch and flywheel from the original engine (fichtel & sachs fd and pp-looks low mileage) and also pulled clutch and flywheel from the donor engine (luk fd and Valeo pp, definitely more miles on this one)

Any idea on flywheel machining costs and recommendations in south Houston area?

How about additional cost for lightening?

Another question

engine pulled from 86 Spider #2 has AR01544*605561* stamped on it.

Donor engine from '83-'85? has AR01544*614225* stamped on it.

Isn't this backward? Engine or at least block already been swapped with an older block? Engine from 86 has solenoid VVT while donor engine is mechanical.

Easiest way is to pull the bearing off. Once the bearing is off the whole brake assembly will come off. At that point you can clean it without taking it apart. Its a pain to do it on the car.

Prepared for tonight's club movie night trip and then into storage tomorrow for the snowy months by:
Lightly washing dust and crud from the exterior, cleaning the windows and windshield, and vacuuming the interior and trunk. Really nice day today, near 70 degrees. Will not last, have low 40's coming next week, maybe a bit of wintry mix too.

Time to put the Spider to rest for now.

had my 2nd set of Teledials black powdercoated/glossed and new Quatrac5 tires fitted for winter.

Other little things like cam chain adjusted and those two small bolts under the front of the head were seeping oil for ages now, so removed them, cleaned them and refitted with some sealant.....so far not a drop of oil seepage there.

Lots of guys doing lots of work. I used no tools, fixed nothing and did not get dirty or greasy. I'll leave that until next year. What I did do was add Sta-Bil, fill the tank, take my bride of almost 39 years out for ice cream, then clean and cover our car until the spring. It was a great day.
