substitute 1/4" fuel line for 7.5mm ok?

Is it OK to use 1/4" injection hose instead of 7.5mm? Is 5/16" a better choice?
Cheers,
Ken

I assume you are wanting to replace the fuel rail to injector hoses (Bosch L-jet Spider).

1/4" is too small (but maybe it'd fit?) 5/16" is too big (I doubt it'd be snug enough).

There aren't any real clamps in the sense of something that wraps around and squeezes the hose. The cup shaped 'washers' help hold the ends of the hose but it seems like it is only the snug fit of the hose onto the barbs that makes the connection fuel-tight under pressure. Don't cut the washers and you can re-use them.

I suggest you get the right size hose. It is available from IAP. A foot is probably enough to do the 4 short hoses. You'll need about 2 feet if you want to have some extra (like if you forget to put the 'washer' on first...) and if you want to replace the hose to the CSI.

Sure, it's okay to use the wrong parts. Maybe your car will catch on fire from leaking fuel though, but that's your call.

Why don't you use the right parts? They aren't expensive and are readily available from any foreign car dealer or parts place, there are numerous Alfa suppliers that sell the right parts.

IAP sells correct kits of 7.5mm hose and metal rings to replace injector hoses on your Spider. See item 16893. Each kit does two injectors so get two kits.

Also they sell the hose by the foot item 16513 you will need some of that too to do hoses to fuel rail.
