Smile Just brought home 1974 2000 Spider

I just purchased a documented 61500 mile 1974 Spider 2000 USA version from 2nd owner. AR 3045799
Originally purchased in May 1976 from first owner, based on customer service and warranty book, and then sold to second owner in 1981 based on registration.
It has been parked in garage since 2002 and has been on non-op. A California blue plate Alfa the entire time.
Has original tools, books, and jack.
Original paint code sticker shows 95 39068 Rosso in trunk and it has a black vinyl interior.
I will need to go through all the mechanicals and electrical.
Hopefully, the SPICA will be okay.
An external paint job will be needed due to paint fade.
My wife will be able to have an Alfa to drive to events.

Looks good next to my 66 Duetto which is another keeper.
I know the garage is a little messy, but I like it that way.
I know where everything is.

Thank you

Thanks!
I am new to SPICA, but I am sure there is enough info on the Alfabb and I have the factory manuals.
When I get stumped, then I will ask.

Great find. S2 next in line to start appreciating.

Spica is a beautiful thing when dialed in, order Wes Ingraham's manual.

Cracking car, especially with all that history...and a complete tool kit, to boot ! Looks like it has been cherished by its previous owners, and from the looks of your garage, will continue to be so.

Thanks and almost rust free

Yes, I agree it is a good find. There is no undercoating on the car, so I can see the whole chassis. Virtually rust free. I wish my Duetto was the same, but i found it in Ohio.
Regards

Photos of bottom of Alfa

Here are some photos showing the lower chassis condition.

The Alfa has the last oil change sticker on door showing 60757 miles in 1991. So, this Alfa has only driven 772 miles since then.

Will drain gas, flush, and replace hoses. I will then start on cooling system.

Perhaps it's worth try brightening up the paintwork carefully (and patiently!) with a very light polishing compound. That way it will remain original and retain its value. I did it with my red Spider (which had nearly become pink in colour) and it turned out like new. Very nice find by the way.

im sure you know this but just in case... I have just re commissioned a spica car that sat for 25 years and what is most important is getting the fuel supply system back to virgin before you turn the key. get inside the tank and make sure it is clean and rust free, replace every single rubber hose and filter inside the tank and all the ones going forward don't forget to blow out the steel lines as well.. the last thing you want to do is pump junk into that pump if everything if it is still good. also llook at the rubber elbow that runs from the tank filler on the fender to the tank itself. they rot away and crack all the time.

Good idea

Thanks!
I was wondering to what extent I would have to go to ensure no particulate gets to the fuel injection pump.

I purchased the Alfa based on the photos and phone conversation.

During the years stored in the garage, the body has acquired a good number of dings and upper dents due to movement of objects in the garage.

It will need an external paint job and body work to fix the dings. I am going to keep what interior and engine compartment original.

If you would like some additional Spica tech info, PM me an email address capable of receiving large files. Gmail works well.
