Removing items from engine compartment and cleaning up.
It appears battery blew its acid on the drive side engine compartment and underneath the hood in the same side.
Also, brake fluid spillage made for some lifting paint.

I will have to remove brake booster and pedal assembly (rotated pedal assembly clockwise 45 degrees to remove).

Steering box will be next.

I just bought a 40DC0E2 for 150.00 to pair with my other 40DCOE2 to use for this Alfa.

Yes pull that Burman box, it's almost guaranteed to be cracked. It was one of the things I neglected to do when I did the restoration on my '72. Took it down the road for the first test drive with all new suspension components and tires and when I pulled a u-turm BAM! - busted wide open. I replaced it with a ZF out of a later Spider and I can tell you with the engine in that thing just barely comes out of there.

That's a nifty way to block off the brake lines

The passenger seat is 15 miles an hour faster than the drivers seat.

Thanks... I use this until ready to remove the brake lines, then I use rubber vacuum caps to seal them off after flushing some 99% Isopropyl alcohol through them.

I will be removing the lines for the engine compartment paint work.

I will end up flushing all the lines. The spider sat for over 20 years with same brake fluid.

I will also have to flush the engine block coolant channels to remove the crud left from sitting with coolant for over 20 years in the garage.

I plan to flush it for several days with the appropriate cleaning agents to remove the crud.

Red face

Two and a half years later.... I am going to start on my 74 Alfa with 60k miles.
I spent 2018 getting my Ferrari to Platinum award.

Plan is for new exterior and engine compartment paint, seat coverings, brakes, tires, etc.
I still need to remove the soft top attachments to body, door handles, and door window trim.
Making phone calls to body shops tomorrow to get some estimates.
This will be my wife's Italian car for Alfa events.
