1988 Spider Veloce, chrome bumper tip?

Dear Listers:
My 1988 Spider Veloce has a chrome exhaust tip, (cylnder) that is about 8" in length and a bit broader in circumference than the rest of the exhaust pipe. Does anyone know if this was standard with the Spider Veloce or an aftermarket add-on?
Mine is quite dented and pitted, so I want to know if I need to, (if even possible) replace it when I fix my exhaust?
Thanks
Andy

I think the Spiders of that era had a single pipe that turned down to the road at the end if the pipe...so the bumpers wouldn't be discolored over time.
My gut tells me you have an aftermarket if it's a straight pipe

No a straight tip would be stock for that car. The stocker will have a AR part number stamped on the canister. Can't remember if that is easily visible without taking it off the car or not......a lot of people replace the rear muffler with a straight pipe w/ no muffler at all - the center muffler seems to do most of the "muffling". This option sounds good and is cheap (~$50 or so from Centerline IIRC).

IIRC, the 'teapot' type spout, (comes out and bends down as described by Fripp), was the common standard, though the Quad body kit with it's lower body trim add-on panel might have required a straight tip...

However, the aftermarket Ansa rear muffler has/had the straight pipe tip with a visibly larger bore than the stock version in either configuration.
