The music I keep in my car is a 2.0L twincam inline-4, played thru the "stereo" that is the exhaust system. Recorded music bastardized the car's music so completely that I removed the radio and installed a Pininfarina blanking plate.

In my lesser cars? Punk rock mostly - Clash, Rancid, Sex Pistols, Generation X, Flogging Molly, Hives, etc. . Tends to cause speeding tickets, though!

Jazz. Freddy Hubbard goes quite well with the Alfa's own music....

Radio... NPR, local news and occasionally a rock station. I still have the stock cassette player and no tape deck at home...

Always have Enya, Secret Garden, Clannad and the occasional songs by Brian Ferry, Don Henley and generally 80's songs (Kim Wild, Duran Duran etc.)

My radio shorts out my turn signals. Fortunately, I'm usually listening to the engine instead.

I can't believe nobody has suggested Simon and Garfunkel!

I have a cassette adapter for my iPod... it's not fancy, but I did manage to hide the wires fairly well; they pop out next to the ashtray. My Spider has a 1995-vintage cassette player. I curse the previous owner for not sticking a CD player in there, although I am not willing to spend the money on one either!

There's a great surf band from San Fran called the Mermen. Highly recommended for after-dark driving.

You do know that you can get a very nice CD player on ebay for less that $100, right?

I gave up on the radio and just listen to the engine. Other cars, anything from Pagliacci to the Ramones.

That's $100 I could put towards something else with the car! I'm happy with the iPod/cassette for now!

Fair enough.

Just that radios are one place where people seem to get irrational; I got over $1000 off my old 4Runner when I bought it because the radio had been stolen and nobody wanted the (otherwise PERFECT) truck because of it. Not explicitely $1000, just that the guy was desparate because he couldn't sell it and it was worth way more than I paid. He was so down about it he told me on the phone that I probably shouldn't even bother to look at it because of the radio. $120 later it has a really nice Clarion. Including iPod control interface.
