What this for ??

1985 Spider Veloce clutch/transmission/engine clean winter project is almost done. After putting the engine/transmission back where it belongs I began hooking everything back up. While connecting up the slave cylinder I noticed a threaded connection (lower left corner of the picture) for a bolt that I no longer remember what connects to? Can it be for the ground strap? I have hooked up the transmission ground strap to the transmission mount, seemed to fit.

Also, for the S-3, my book is 1985 -1989 and the shown dashboard is the cluster package. Mine is the dual gage, where is the trip reset button? I wonder if the PO had accidentally broke it off, or if it is part of the Alfa secret code.

Thank you everyone for your encouragement and wonderful threads. Plan to post pictures when it is done, done, done.

Dunno about the bolt hole, but the trip reset on the pod gauges is a cable looking thing with a small knob on it that sort of dangles under the dash. (it might be balled up in the wiring back there, as it's not very long and just clears the bottom of the dash)

I made a mount that puts it almost directly behind the key.

Turn it clockwise to reset the trip meter, counter clockwise to remove the knob.

While your toying around under the hood sometime, look on the left fenderwell back near the firewall and in the vicinity of the 2 relays that are mounted there.

If things are moderately well preserved, there will be a very small sticker (about 1/2" x 2") that tells the actual manufacture date of your car.

Your's is probably like mine: an 84 w/dual pod dash that got sold as an 85.
