Unhappy Can someone Help

When we got the son's spider running the other day, they had to shut it down for coolant in the oil. Apparently coolant is getting into the oil. My first thoughts are the head gasket is a problem but I am sure there could be other reasons. He has pulled the head and they damaged the head gasket so I do have to replace it. Any other suggestions would be appreciated

Thanks

The Alfa engine has 'wet liners' - iron cylinders inserted into the aluminum block. There are rubber O-rings at the bottom of the liners. Coolant can get into the oil there (in addition to a leaky head gasket).

The head clamps the liners down. With the head off, the liners should be about 0.002" above the block's top surface.

Gerry,

And... do not turn the engine with the head off, unless you have clamped the liners to prevent their movement. No intent to be condescending, but, do you have any of the Alfa books or manuals?.
