It's a little more complicated than that. There was a full rebuild abt 10K miles ago. The works, new pistons included. ( I bought the motronic piston set from IAP, rings included)...

Yep. They just sell it at their wholesale auction. And apparently $2-3 K is what they get at those auctions for a 90's spider in "good" condition. Not too much of a surprise when you factor in cost...

(my alfa shop is fast)

It seems it is true that the more you drive them, the better they run.
