If it originally had the 1750 grille there would be a tab under the valance where it bolted to. It was spot welded on so it would have to have been hacked off in some fashion to fit the 2000 grille....

I will admit, I do enjoy my other Spider with a modified 2L and a 4.56 for most of my short distance driving. But for long hauls the 4.10 is my preferred. They are two different animals.

There should not be play from the center support. I'd suggest you replace the center bearing and have the driveshaft balanced. I'd also check the Universal joints.
