Measuring syncro rings

IID or OD don`t tell you anything about the ring. Measure the thickness of the band about the center of it.

The other "factory" E-Tube used in Alfas was the F9. It has 2 more holes 3mm lower than the 2 Ed drilled in the F-16. As well it has 4 holes in the larger diameter area below the ones mentioned...

I don`t think any 1600 head had the 2 front tabs. Those started with the 1750 series, but at that time the 1600 became the "Jr" motor so it`s possible, as the 1750/1600 is basically the same head,...

Engine markings

There are 30 markings in later 2.5 Liter heads. The only marking to rely on is hidden on the block obscured by the starter. There will be either a 2.5 or 3.0 casting there.

Most engine builders (including the factories) use Barrs leak or similar in every new engine built.

Critical in this re-torquing leaky head gaskets is the use of Barrs leak as a preventitive.

You had a big clue. Leaning the fuel mixture reduces the wash happening on the liners & rings.

Use the short guides specified for the V6 12V 3 liter`s exhaust. These should be seated leaving a total height of 11.5mm above the floor of the spring...
