There are no brass synchro parts in your trans. I offered some experience with Pennzoil Synchromesh earlier in response to your shifting problem. It's not expensive, but it did take some miles to...

Chas is referring to the OP where the trans and synchros are Alfa, which uses the Porsche servo type, not the later balk ring type. It was Alfar7 that conflated the 2 and in effect hijacked the...

A different extension housing is also needed, and a change of rear gear ratio. I swapped in a 4.10 as I flat towed my 356 hillclimb car behind the 240.
I still have a copy of that old Datsun Comp...

Yup, Tremec calls the brass ring a blocker or baulk ring. The Porsche type synchro does not have such a ring. I swapped am early Porsche synchro 2000 5 speed into my 240Z. That is a very sweet...

Nope, the balk ring design is also known as a Borg Warner synchro. The -usually brass- balk ring keeps the sliding sleeve from engaging the gear dogs until it moves against the direction of rotation,...

The suggestion to use a GL-4 gear oil in the Alfa final drive is incorrect. A GL-5 oil, recommended for hypoid gears, is needed. GL-4 is not recommended for hypoid gears.

While I agree with your basic premise, the Alfa gearbox does not use a balk ring synchro. It uses a servo synchro also known as a Porsche synchro. I think most gearboxes do not take well to a GL5 oil...

Yup, many times valve clearances increase when hot. The aluminum head expands more than the steel valve stem. An old trick with Benz engines was to increase the valve clearance from .004" to .006" so...

Yup, way too lean if the gauge is correct. But I think something else is also going on. Generally, a increase of coolant temperature at speed is indicative of obstructed flow of coolant or air...

Clutch discs aren't all that unique. I believe the spline size and count in the Alfa disc is quite common. Someone had a disc for a diesel, possibly a Benz, lying about and used it. Diesel engines...

Stiffer sway bars emulate raising the roll center-increasing weight transfer to the other end of the car. The upper arm Alfa uses at the rear was OK back in the 50s. It's a real hindrance to good...

What problems did CR have, exactly? I've got a 2016 Miata "clone"(that's funny) bought new and have had zero problems. But it has a Mazda engine-the Fiata has a Fiat engine. Who makes the electronic...
