Thanks, Joe - thought I might hear from someone at C’line. I’ll give Ignite a call about scheduling a tune, they’re relatively convenient to me.

Denver carb tune

Does anyone here have a recommendation for a good Weber tuning shop in the Denver CO metro area? I moved to Denver about 18 months ago from NH (at roughly sea level), and I probably ought to get the...

You'll be in good hands at Accel. They took good care of my 2000 GTV and a 164 I used to have until about 10 years ago when I left MA. I think the same three guys are still working there...

...but also the semi-liquid consistency. These special greases are OK in a steering box as they will flow back between the bearings after the bearings move, unlike a heavier stiff grease (especially...

steering box grease source?

I won't get into the debate over oil vs. semi-liquid grease in the Burman steering boxes here. The box in my '74 GTV has a somewhat leaky seal and I switched to Chevron 000 grease about ten years ago...

You might want to investigate the stainless Magnaflow system for 105/115 Alfas which I believe is still available through Centerline (PH201). This was designed by one of the AlfaBB guys roughly ten...

I do

I tip them - cars are worth a lot and are a real pain to get fixed, so if they do a good job and the car gets to the destination clean, undamaged, and on time I give them a tip. For an independent...

rear lines

I recommend replacing the lines back around the fuel tank as well. When I had a 164 in Massachusetts about 8 years ago, I had one of the lines in that area rust through and pop. New England winter...

jack points

The factory jack points on a GTV are little rectangular sockets on the bottoms of the rocker panels, one maybe a foot behind the front wheel and the other about that distance in front of the rear...

I recommend getting a jack from a Milano instead. The GTV jack can dent the fender if not used just right. The Milano has the same style of jacking point, but the jack is a more standard...

Thanks! Seems like I gave up KS tornados only to get NH hurricanes... Everything is a trade, I guess! I've got great driving roads now so I'm not complaining.

NH not bad

Not much to report from Manchester NH. The coastal part of the state got hit hard, but I'm just far enough inland that I had no damage and the power even stayed on the whole time. My GTV was parked...

I shipped my GTV halfway across the country last fall (KS to NH) enclosed with Horseless Carriage. They have their own fleet of enclosed trailers with hydraulic liftgates, so no ramps are involved....

I have this hanging on the back barn wall above the GTV. It was an anonymous gift about 10 years ago - I had the Alfa parked in the driveway on a nice day and came out to find this draped over the...

I have a Hagerty policy on my GTV and they have a value estimator tool on their web site. I recently used it when I renewed, and the numbers are a pretty close match to those above.

Just for clarification, I can't see any orange on my tach. As far as I can tell with a good light, it's all one color red from 5800 up. No sign of orange, faded or not.

5800

Not me. Marked redline on my US model 1974 GTV 2000 is 5800 rpm. Fairly sure it has the original factory instrument cluster in it.

Good advice there. Centerline has told me that they sometimes get the longer ones and sometimes not (the supplier makes both, but isn't consistent with what they send). So the correct cable is...

GTV 2000 tach cable length(s)?

I've got a puzzler (to me, at least). One of the end fittings came loose from the tach cable on my '74 GTV 2000 recently, so I went to buy a new one. Oddly, the one I got seems too short by about 4...

I no longer have my 164, but recently put Kumho Ecsta LX Platinum tires on my VW Passat (roughly same size/weight as the 164), and am very happy with them. I don't drive that car very agressively,...
