No it was the real deal. The violent demonstrations in the Paris of 1968 were massive (putting to shame in magnitude those in the U.S.). They included street and bridge barricades, piles of burning tires, and the ever-popular Molotov cocktails, which, I suspect, are what did in the cars in the photo, along with clubs and rocks. That Sprint just happened to be on the wrong rue at the wrong time.

It all started because boys could not go to see girls in the dormitory at the University of Nanterre. It was unorganized and after politics took over.

A few people have emerged from this moment and surfed on the wave like Daniel Cohn-Bendit...
