Alfaholics setup makes her much lower and angrier, but ride quality and mechanical grip has been transformed...

Nice!

What was involved in the Alfaholics setup?

Stiffer front anti roll bar.....rear roll bar removed
New re-rated stiffer springs front and rear, car sits about an inch lower.
Rear axel strap needs to be shortened.
New adjustable Koni shocks....set to soft front and rear.

..and finally a proper wheel alignment

Car is transformed...it's a mid corner weapon
Needs more power now to compliment it's dynamic capabilities:-)

Edit: just did 1400km in her up to Canberra and back, ran beautifully

I'm jumping the gun, here - but I've finally gotten myself a Spider - it's a 1976 SPICA. I had been hoping for a pre 1975 car, but fell in love with this one when I saw it.

I don't pick it up until a week Sunday, but pics will follow- in the meantime, follow my search that led me to this car...

I feel like I'm cheating a bit, because the car is not in my garage yet, but - here i is - my (soon to be) new Spider. I'll be picking it up on Sunday the 26th of April. Can't wait.

I've test driven this and it drives beautifully. The transmission shifts like butter and there is no "grunch" in second gear. The interior, believe it or not, is all original - right down to the blaupunkt radio. It even has the (apparently) desirable original cigarette lighter. The car is largely original, but paint was redone in the late 80s or early 90s (the paint is what I would call a "5-footer" - in that it looks great from that distance), and the hood was replaced with a canvas, noise dampened top.

The car comes with its original tool kit, the original SPICA, service documents back to the early 90s (or was it late 80s?) newspaper clipping of the car for sale by the first owner in the early 80s, and as far as I can see, runs perfectly. (I'm suspect this may be tested on the 100+km drive home... ;-) ). Oh - and all emission rubbish has been removed and the SPICA has been returned to its normal operation.

The car has 51000 miles (about 82000 km). I've been looking for a while, and I feel very lucky to have found this one, in spite of the bad bumpers (which are growing on me but will likely be replaced eventually) and the colour (which I really balked at, but when I saw it, in conjunction with the oxblood interior, recanted, and WON"T change).

Can't wait to pick this up!!!!

Will post better photos when it's in my possession - am thinking of calling it (all cars perform better when named) "Bianca" - too obvious?

Cheers - Bruce

Looks great Bruce, I like the color combo, it's the same as my brothers Guila Spider Veloce.
Can't see the front, Carello headlight covers? If not order them, they really belong on there.

Enjoy!

Yeah - agree. At present the headlamps are standard - but I do want to replace them with the Carellos. After that the bumpers- after that I'd like to get the GTA replica wheels (the ones that are on velocemotors car?)

But to begin, I'm just going to enjoy her as she is...

A couple more. It's a Maserati/Chevrolet mixed color.
Lowered, light flywheel, changed bumpers, all new front end parts, etc
It's grown on me...
