That's kinda normal. Most people in the flemish part do have notions of English. (and of French) Most of the people living in the south of Belgium and speaking French (les Wallons) don't even try speaking (or learning) another language.....
But for the view and the nice little villages, you should go to the Ardens.
Some cool mountain roads and passing by Eau Rouge in Spa !!!!!!!!
Cool

Yeah, did lots of driving thru the Ardennes, and I love Tongren (Tongres), but all in all, it's not just the language problem. The attitude is too French in the south. The North and East are much more modern and friendly. Although, you gotta love all the great beers in the South. No wonder you guys kept that part. LOL.

How do you guys like my garage? We have been without central air....any garage...brick...for now 5 months. The footer and block wall you are looking at is a 25 x 41 space that will be the garage. This picture taken about 3 weeks ago. Funny thing...or not so funny....it looks the same today. Oh well.....such is the torment of a contractor.

Best Regards,
John M

Don't worry about the contractor. He's just waiting for winter so he has a better excuse to delay work.

I totally agree about the beers!
After my first visit to Belgium I became a complete beer snob.
Now all I drink is Hoegaaren, Duvel and Leffe.

Next time, try St. Feuillien (sp?) made in the town of Reoulx (sp?). It's worth it, trust me. There are so many, although I have tried all the ones you've mentioned as well. Of course, even the "cheapo" Jupiler is great compared to most beers. Sorry this is so off-topic, but hey, it's Belgian beer.

Alfiat, sorry, I don't smoke. But Beer, that's another story, especially Belgian Beer.

Kristal, you don't know how good you have it. Even though I was bashing Belgium in the thread started by Olczyk, I can't deny that the beer makes up for alot. And like I said, you live in the cool part of the country. Cheers!
