Work Resumed

Johnny at Vintage Customs sent some pics on the work last couple weeks. He's focused on strengthening the tubular sframework up fron, fixing the hood hinges/alignment and supporting material, radiator mounts, and other work in the cowl area. I had sent him and Darron a quote from St Francis of Assisi that apparantly went something like: “He who works with his hands is a laborer. He who works with his hands and his mind is a craftsman. He who works with his hands and his mind and his heart is an artist.” Thought that was pretty apt...

Love the tubular structure. VC are reconstructing and then protecting against electrolysis. This car should never again see rain, but protection against moisture in any form with metals in contact needs to be provided. Epoxies, membranes, etc. The work a few years ago was amazing, particularly the complex sill reconstruction/protection and other points of contact.

Akitaman,
As a former Lancia (B20 last series and Series 3 Appia) owner I would love to see what you are doing but I only get your text on my computer. How can I get the photos? Hope you can help me.
Thanks,
Norm Bergman

Norm,

there must be something related to your pc settings (firewall, etc).
The photos are clearly visible.

I completely agree. Akitaman's pictures are delivered from the same AlfaBB server that delivers the text.

Thanks Daron and Johnny,

When I drove the LFZS at the time of purchase, I could tell it had potential and it wanted more, but I was afraid the car would break in two so held back! Then in the American Lancia Club publication I saw where a Sport lost its rear end completely (if I recall correctly) and crashed on some curvy road. Do not recall the owner's name, but I believe he was okay. You guys were in the first phase of the project at that time and I couldn't help but appreciate all the resto and improvement work from a safety perspective as well as from the craftsman's aesthetic point of view.

I receive all alfabob pics consistently on my laptop with windows XP, my desktop with windows 7, and my iPad with whatever it uses. I am able to view pics regardless of whether I use Firefox, Explorer, or Safari.

I suspect you have some odd setting in your alfabob cp.

Past Alfas...
59 102 Touring (first Alfa $500 running)
65 Sprint GT (2nd Alfa, $500 daily driver)
102 Sprint (never did anything with it, but wish I had)
74 Berlina (first new car - now certainly rusted into oblivion)
61 Giulietta Spider G-Prod Race Car (where is it now?)
84 Spider Veloce (rarely drove it, so sold it)
86 Quadrifoglio (Dull car - no more 115s for me)
1971 Montreal "The Full Monty". Fair winds and following seas

Current Alfas
59 102 Touring Roadster - restoration complete, enough Alfa for any rational man. Or irrational, for that matter
Oops. Add to the "present" list, 10204 01488, 2000 Touring Roadster project

And past...
Two 1946 Stampe SV4C (c/n 294 "Rocinante" - wife's favorite airplane. RIP), and c/n 235 "La Bon Temps Femme" (gone to a new home, but never forgotten)
Zlin 50LA (+9 -6 gees, titanium spar, 1200 lbs, 260HP rumored to now be in Brazil)
1946 Luscombe 8A
Starduster Too (recently spotted at the Nevada City, CA airport - over 20 years and an entire continent separating it from our stewardship in Binghamton, NY)
1955 Cessna 170B (wife taught me to fly tailwheel in this)

And present...
64 Mooney M20E ("Rambo". My faithful steed for over 40 years) Over 55 years old, and just returned from a trip to Argentina in him
Newest in the fleet
1967 Piper Super Cub on Wipline amphibious floats (a true "all terrain vehicle")
2010 Triumph Thunderbird

You can snap roll an Alfa only one time...

It is true that more recent photos are visible, but Akitaman's photos posted before 2008 seem to have dropped off the server.

Can anyone see Akitaman's photos in say, page 5 of this thread ?

I tried unsuccessfully on other computers so I'm sure the problem is not here. It would be great if the photos could be restored. Any ideas?

A few years back our computer system crashed and took out a lot of data we had on the internet. The photo's connected to various projects were all wiped out too. We have back up photo's but I fear it would take a great deal of time to restore all that data. If time ever permits I will try to repair those links. But in the mean time... Here's a short little update to this story.
