That dual tacho/speedo on the new 500 is so so cool. In fact, the whole car is SO SO cool.

Yeah, I would love it if the 500 came to America...though I'm not holding my breath.

On the up-side, FIAT Group seems to be doing rather well in their home market lately: Italiaspeed Article w/ Italian YTD market share at 31.73%!

Looks like last month:
The Panda is 'dominating' the A-Segment
The Punto 'controls' the B-Segment with the Lancia Ypsilon 3rd in the same!
The Bravo is 2nd in the C-Segment (#1 is Ford Focus)
The Alfa 159 topped the D-Segment (#2 Passat and #3 BMW 3-Series)

The 159 is also the D-Segment leader YTD!

Maybe if FIAT Group continues to do well they will bring more then just Alfa back to the USofA! Hey you can't blame a guy for trying to think positively...

sakiss, always enjoy your posts. Two questions: When can we Americans expect to enjoy the 500 on our shores? Great youtube video, can you give a short overview of what was being said? My Italian is a lot rusty!
Thx...

As a long time Fiat and Alfa fan, it makes me sad that there have been so many great Fiats in the last 10 years and we never got them. Now this one comes out, and it's just torture. I can't stand the fact that I can't get one

I can only say Gorgeous pictures. Read this:

All the new 500s are frugal on fuel, the diesel especially so with a 67.3mpg claimed figure for the official combined-cycle economy test. The 1.2 manages 55.4mpg and the 1.4 does 44.8mpg on this test, although as ever it would be surprising to see these figures matched in real-world driving.

Get this: They also include a five-year or 500,000km (300,000 mile) warranty. It will be interesting to see how many buyers reach 300,000 miles within the warranty period.

I want one more than ever. Not convinced that they will ever make their way to the States though.

DanB,

I don't know what you mean by the above post of the X 1/9. Are you calling it one of the reasons Fiat left North America or are you calling one of the last cool cars that they built?

And oh yeah, the first run of Fiat 500s has already sold out.

Well, I was just being flagrant about why Fiat left NA. There were several reasons they left most of which I'm too young to have experienced first hand, lol...

Yes, the X1/9 is defiantly one of the last cool cars Fiat built. Have they even made a RWD since? Personally I think Fiat peaked in the 70's; Lancia, too (037=sex). I suppose there are different definitions of cool. The Panda was kinda cool in a funky-4wd-hatchback way. I suppose the new 500 is cool too because it is stylish and cute, but it's not my kind of cool.

no argument about Fiat, but you wouldn't consider the '80s Lancia Delta Integrale cool?

I think that Lancia, while still good, began its decline in the 1980's. Yes, the Delta Integrale was cool but it wasn't as cool as the Stratos (1972-1973).
